Archpriest Vladimir Sergunin Engages with Juveniles on Defender of the Fatherland Day

With the blessing of Metropolitan Theodosius of Tambov and Rasskazovsky, Archpriest Vladimir Sergunin, head of the Tambov Diocese Department for Cooperation with the Armed Forces and Law Enforcement Agencies, participated in an event at the Temporary Detention Center for Juvenile Offenders (TsVSNP) of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Tambov Region, dedicated to the upcoming Defender of the Fatherland Day. The event aimed to foster spiritual and moral values among young people.

Delegation and Participants

The delegation included Deputy Chief of Police for Public Order, Police Colonel Vladimir Razdobarin, Military Commissioner of the Tambov Region, Colonel Alexander Demin, as well as representatives from the volunteer organizations “Movement of the First”, “Yunarmia”, and the Tambov Cossack Cadet Corps. These groups joined Archpriest Sergunin in engaging with the juveniles.

Focus on Spiritual and Moral Values

Archpriest Vladimir Sergunin emphasized the importance of spiritual and moral values to the teenagers, highlighting the historical contributions of Tambov residents in defending the Fatherland during the Great Patriotic War and other challenging periods. He stressed that strength of spirit, loyalty to duty, and love for one’s homeland are essential foundations for making positive life choices.

Message of Hope and Redemption

Addressing the young people, Father Vladimir stated, “Your life is still ahead. Each of you can correct your mistakes and grow a worthy citizen, a defender of your family and country. It is important to remember the exploits of our ancestors and strive to be the heirs of their glory not in words, but in deeds.” This message offered a path towards rehabilitation and positive contribution to society.

Discussion and Remembrance

The meeting was conducted in a warm and trusting atmosphere. The teenagers actively participated, asking questions about the history of the Great Patriotic War, military service, and contemporary service to the Motherland. Military Commissar Alexander Demin shared stories of heroism displayed by Russian military personnel during the special military operation and highlighted the achievements of fellow Tambov residents.

Gifts and Gratitude

Following a tradition initiated by Police Colonel Vladimir Razdobarin, the guests presented small gifts to the center’s students. The teenagers expressed their gratitude and pledged to uphold the law and take their future seriously.

Future Initiatives

The Tambov diocese plans to continue this work by participating in a military-patriotic gathering in March, dedicated to the exploits of heroes in the North Caucasus region. This event will build upon the ongoing systematic efforts of the Department for interaction with the Armed Forces and law enforcement agencies in the field of spiritual, moral, and patriotic education of youth.
