Taylor Swift’s Dublin Rental Hits the Market for €5.25 Million

The Dublin 6 home once rented by Taylor Swift in the summer of 2021 is now for sale, listed at €5.25 million. The property, located at 5 St James Terrace, Clonskeagh Road, is being marketed by Lisney Sotheby’s International Realty Ballsbridge.

Travel entrepreneur Bob Haugh, the owner of the property, noted that the mahogany piano within the home “doesn’t get much use,” but likely would have been played by Swift during her stay. Swift’s time in Dublin coincided with her then-boyfriend, actor Joe Alwyn, filming the TV adaptation of Sally Rooney’s Conversations with Friends. It is believed that during this trip, Swift also visited Wicklow, which inspired her song “Sweet Nothing” from her album Midnights.

Haugh recounted that the rental arrangement came about when a friend with music industry connections inquired about filming the converted coach house on the property. This led to a request to rent the main house as well, which suited the Haughs as they were spending the summer abroad. Upon learning the identity of the prospective tenant, Haugh had the piano tuned in anticipation of her arrival.

Swift reportedly expressed her gratitude to the Haugh family by leaving them a signed black-and-white photo from her Folklore era, with a message thanking them for their hospitality and sending love and gratitude.

A Renovated Period Home

The Haughs purchased the home approximately 20 years ago and undertook a full renovation to restore its original features. The house had previously been divided into separate spaces, damaging original mouldings and details. Architects de Blacam and Meagher were engaged to redesign the home for modern family life while preserving its period layout.

The property extends to 375sq m (4,036sq ft) and includes a two-story main house over a garden level, along with a renovated coach house extending to 123sq m (1,323sq ft). The grounds feature a gravelled driveway with electric gates and a landscaped garden designed by Paul Doyle, who won a gold medal at Bloom for the design.

Key Features of 5 St James Terrace:

  • Interconnecting reception rooms with original cornicing and a marble fireplace.
  • A garden-level living space with a kitchen and dining area offering panoramic garden views.
  • Four bedrooms, including a main suite with a walk-through dressing room and en suite bathroom.
  • A renovated coach house with an open-plan kitchen/living space and a mezzanine level.
  • A 44m (144ft) long garden with manicured lawns, cherry blossoms and mulberry trees.

The property is located on St James Terrace, adjacent to Milltown Park and a 15-minute walk from Ranelagh village.

Lisney Sotheby’s International Realty is handling the sale.
