Cottbus, Germany – March 5, 2026 – The Staatstheater Cottbus will premiere “The Making-Of,” a latest comedy by Nora Abdel-Maksoud, on March 7, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. In the Kammerbühne. This production marks the first collaboration between the Staatstheater Cottbus and the Filmuniversität Babelsberg “Konrad Wolf.”

Nora Abdel-Maksoud’s “The Making-Of” offers a comedic glimpse into the chaotic world of film production. The play centers around Gordon, a director determined to create a German remake of the international blockbuster “Batman Rises” (referred to as “Fledermausmann Rises” in some reports). Radio Cottbus details how the production quickly spirals into disarray, trading harmonious teamwork for arguments and mounting pressure.

Competition, Pressure, and the Creative Process

The play explores the clash of expectations from producers, television networks, personal ambitions, and familial pressures, all bearing down on those involved. What begins as an elite ensemble quickly transforms into a group grappling with insecurity. Conflicts arise over roles, script lines, compensation, appearance, and the dynamics of power. Florian Hertweck directs a cast of four young actors with established on-screen experience: Leo Brucklacher, Jule Hermann, Josefine Keller (playing Gordon), and Lasse Klene.
