Arena Stage’s “The Treatment” Explores a World Without Aging
Arena Stage in Washington, D.C., will premiere Amy Berryman’s “The Treatment” on February 27, 2026, as part of its 75th Anniversary New Play Festival. The play delves into the profound societal and personal impacts of a newly developed treatment that halts the aging process and, potentially, eliminates death from natural causes.
A Speculative Look at Immortality
“The Treatment” follows Will, one of the first individuals to undergo the revolutionary treatment. However, unforeseen tragic side effects emerge, fracturing his relationship with his daughter and setting the stage for a multi-generational exploration of life, loss, and the very meaning of existence. The play examines how society might grapple with the implications of extended lifespans and what it means to measure a life unbound by the natural limits of aging.
