Timothé Vergiat Gears Up for Paris 2028 Olympic Qualification After Silver in Paris 2024

ADA Blois basketball player Timothé Vergiat is back in training with the French 3×3 basketball team as they begin their qualification campaign for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. This marks Vergiat’s return to the 3×3 format after securing a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Return to 3×3 Action

The training camp, held from February 22nd to March 2nd, 2026, in Toulouse and Bordeaux, represents Vergiat’s first time playing 3×3 basketball in a year and a half. He was sidelined with a foot injury in February 2025, preventing him from participating in previous training sessions.

“It’s been a year and a half since I’ve been back so I’m looking forward to it,” Vergiat stated. “It’s part of my life, I missed it a little. It also allows you to change the routine a little.”

Team Dynamics and Preparation

Vergiat is joined in the training camp by his ADA Blois teammate, Romuald Morency, who is attending his second training session with the national team. Vergiat highlighted Morency’s suitability for the 3×3 style of play. “It’s cool, already for the journey, and what’s more, Romu is someone who can respond perfectly to the 3×3 style. I know he wanted to play too.”

Paris 2024 Success and Future Goals

Vergiat played a crucial role in France’s qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics, notably making the winning shot at the Olympic Qualifying Tournament (TQO) in May 2024. He was officially selected for the Paris 2024 team.

Now, with his sights set on Los Angeles 2028, Vergiat and the French team are focused on the qualification process.
