Toulouse Railway Bridge a Frequent Site of Accidents
Torn gantries, scalped trucks, and repeated collisions: the railway bridge on Avenue des Herbettes, in Toulouse’s Montaudran district, has become a notorious traffic hazard. Deputy Mayor and district mayor, Émilion Esnault, details the measures being taken and promises a forthcoming solution.
Following the latest accident on November 19,Émilion Esnault expressed his frustration. “The signage is not enough; it is not yet large enough, I think,” he stated.
This recent incident, involving a truck exceeding the bridge’s height limit, adds to a growing list. In October 2024, a utility vehicle sustained significant roof damage. Eight days later, a delivery truck became lodged under the bridge, its top severely torn.
SNCF agents previously reported “a third time in three weeks” in December 2023.
