Baby Rescued in Mexico city Bridge Tragedy Returns Home After Two Months in Texas Hospital

MEXICO CITY. (Agencies).- Jazlyn Azuleth, the baby rescued by her grandmother during the tragedy in Puente de la Concordia, Iztapalapa, is already in CDMX after two months hospitalized in Texas.
After more then two months of being hospitalized at the Shriners for Children Hospital in Galveston, Texas, 2-year-old Jazlyn Azuleth returned to Mexico to continue her recovery process after suffering severe burns during the explosion that occurred on September 10 at the Concordia bridge, in Iztapalapa, Mexico city.
According to the Michou and Mau Foundation, Jazlyn and her mother arrived at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) on Friday night, from where they were taken to thier home in an ambulance from the airport itself, in coordination with the capital’s Health Secretariat.

The Foundation reported that the minor’s mother thanked the media for the interest and patience regarding her daughter’s health.
However, she asked for “consideration and prudence” for the family at this stage.
“In these sensitive moments, your consideration and prudence have been of great support to the family”…
reads the statement issued by the Foundation, which has been in charge of the transfer and treatment of the minor in the United States.
The organization specified that it will remain as a link to publicize, in due course, the treatments and care that jazlyn must receive to address the consequences of her injuries.
The day of the tragedy
On the day of the accident that left 32 peopel dead, Jazlyn was under the care of her grandmother, Alicia Matías Teodoro, who worked as a transportation checker at the Santa Marta station, on Line A of the CDMX Metro.
During the pipe explosion, the 49-year-old woman covered Jazlyn with her body to protect her from the flames, an action that caused third-degree burns on 100% of her body, which she did not survive and died on september 12. The act was recognized on social networks, and Alicia was named “La Granny Heroína” (The Granny Heroine).
