traffic Jams Near Portet-sur-Garonne Shopping Center to end in December
For months, motorists throughout southern Toulouse have been experiencing significant slowdowns on an interchange near the Portet-sur-Garonne shopping center. The cause: a lane blocked by construction. Vinci autoroutes assures that the disruption will end in mid-December.
These white and red studs are now a familiar sight: installed for several months on the boulevard Hélène Viannay bridge,at interchange 37 of the A64,they block the right lane towards the Portet-sur-Garonne shopping center.
This configuration causes massive traffic jams daily, especially for motorists coming from Cugnaux, Villeneuve-Tolosane and the Candie area, as well as those taking the interchange towards the A64.
A Key Point in the Urban Area
This is a key point in the urban area, connecting several municipalities and a major shopping destination. The lane closure forces traffic to merge, creating significant congestion during peak hours. Motorists report delays of up to 30 minutes during rush hour.
Vinci Autoroutes explains that these restrictions are necessary for the construction of a new noise barrier along the A64. The project aims to reduce noise pollution for residents living near the highway. The company states that they are working to minimize disruption and complete the work as quickly as possible.
“We understand the inconvenience this is causing to motorists, and we are doing everything we can to expedite the process,” said a vinci Autoroutes spokesperson.”We anticipate the lane will be reopened by mid-December, well before the holiday shopping season.”
Until then, drivers are advised to plan extra time for their journeys and consider option routes if possible. Real-time traffic details is available thru the Vinci Autoroutes website and mobile app (https://www.vinci-autoroutes.com/) and other navigation apps.
