Former TOWIE Star Jordan Wright Dies in Thailand at 33

Jordan Wright, a former star of the ITV reality show The Only Way is Essex, has died in Thailand at the age of 33. His body was discovered in a drainage canal near Bang Tao Beach in Phuket on Saturday, March 14, 2026, according to reports.

Details of the Incident

Wright appeared in 17 episodes of TOWIE in 2018, following a previous appearance on MTV’s Ex on the Beach. He had returned to his profession as a firefighter after his stint on the show. Police Lieutenant Colonel Suthirak Chuthong of the Choeng Thale Police Station stated that there were no initial signs of physical assault. Wright’s phone was found near his body. The Independent reports that hotel records indicate Wright checked in alone and was scheduled to check out on March 13, but never did.

CCTV footage showed Wright exhibiting restless behavior, pacing back and forth in front of the hotel before leaving the area, ultimately leading to the location where his body was found. Authorities believe he had been dead for no more than two days before discovery.

Investigation and Statements

The case remains under investigation, with an autopsy pending to determine the exact cause of death. Police have stated that CCTV footage related to the incident is part of the case file and will not be released at this stage. The Daily Mail reported a statement from the police indicating they are open to contact from relatives or friends with concerns regarding the cause of death.

A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office confirmed they are supporting Wright’s family and in contact with local authorities. The Mirror notes that Wright had recently moved to Thailand seeking a “new life.”

Tributes from Friends and Colleagues

Following the news of his death, tributes have poured in on social media. Friends and fellow reality stars have expressed shock and sadness, commenting on Wright’s last Instagram post, which featured a photo of him in an infinity pool in Thailand. The Sun reports that friends described him as “gone way too soon.”

Prior to his death, Wright had been sharing posts about enjoying fitness and motorcycling in Thailand, and had expressed excitement for the year ahead. Sources indicate he had been staying at the Hotel COCO Phuket Bangtao.
