A train collision near Barcelona has resulted in one fatality and left four individuals with serious injuries, according to firefighters. This incident marks Spain’s second deadly rail accident within days, raising concerns about railway safety in the region.
“There are four seriously injured and one person who has passed away,” stated claudi Gallardo, a spokesman for the fire service in Catalonia, during a press briefing. Reports from the Spanish State news agency EFE confirm that the train driver was among the casualties.
The accident occurred when a retaining wall collapsed onto the tracks in the municipality of Gelida,causing a passenger train to collide with the debris.The region’s civil protection agency shared this information on its social media platforms.
