Suspects Escape After desert Pursuit Following Train Theft

APPLE VALLEY, Calif. (VVNG.com) – Four suspects involved in a recent train theft escaped after leading deputies on a pursuit through the desert on Thursday afternoon, officials said.

The incident began on December 4, 2025, at about 12:53 p.m., when Apple Valley deputies observed a white box truck in the desert area near Dale Evans Parkway and Falchion Road, northwest of bell Mountain.

According to a statement from Gloria Orejel,spokeswoman for the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department,as deputies approached,four males ran toward the vehicle. The suspects entered the truck and fled eastbound through the desert.

Deputies attempted a traffic stop,but the suspects didn’t yield,leading to a pursuit that lasted approximately 7.5 miles.

The chase ended when the box truck became stuck while attempting to drive over a mountain. The suspects than fled on foot and weren’t located,authorities said.

Inside the truck, deputies discovered stolen merchandise connected to a recent train cargo theft. The investigation is ongoing, and BNSF has assumed responsibility for the stolen cargo.
