Two TransJakarta Buses Collide in South Jakarta, 23 Passengers Injured

Jakarta, Indonesia – A collision involving two TransJakarta buses occurred on Monday, February 23, 2026, in the Swadarma section of Corridor 13, heading towards Cipulir, South Jakarta. Authorities have attributed the accident to the driver of one of the buses falling asleep at the wheel.

According to AKBP Ojo Ruslani, Sub-Director of Traffic Enforcement of the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police (Polda Metro Jaya), the incident took place around 7:15 AM local time. The buses involved were a TransJakarta Ferris wheel bus driven by an individual identified only by the initials Y, and a TransJakarta Mayasari Bakti bus driven by A. “At precisely 7:15 WIB, driver Y stated he was sleepy and fell asleep, causing his bus to veer into the lane of driver A, possibly due to fatigue,” Ruslani stated according to Liputan6.com.

Whereas there were no fatalities, 23 passengers sustained minor injuries. The buses were reportedly full at the time of the accident, coinciding with the morning commute. Passengers traveling from Cipulir towards Kebayoran were among those injured and have been transported to nearby hospitals for treatment.
