Travis Scott and Ludwig Göransson Reunite for Nolan’s Latest

Travis Scott has released “When I’m Home,” the end credits song for Christopher Nolan’s latest film. The track features vocal contributions from James Blake and production by composer Ludwig Göransson. The release follows Scott’s brief on-screen appearance in the movie, marking his second major collaboration with the director following his work on the 2020 film Tenet.

A Fusion of Homeric Verse and Modern Rhythm

In his lyrics, Scott draws directly from the journey of Odysseus, rapping: “I’m marchin’ to this beach, I’m havin’ band withdrawals / Ran to a god, I’m askin’, ‘Please, lead me.’”

James Blake provides the vocal accompaniment, serving as a “Siren” within the track’s soundscape. The minimalist arrangement is helmed by Göransson, a frequent Nolan collaborator who previously won Academy Awards for his scores on Black Panther and Oppenheimer. The track is now available across major digital streaming platforms.

Nolan’s Oral Tradition Theory

Christopher Nolan’s decision to feature Scott—both in the film and on its soundtrack—stems from a fascination with the oral tradition of storytelling.

“I cast [Scott] because I wanted to nod towards the idea that this story has been handed down as oral poetry, which is analogous to rap,” Nolan stated. This creative philosophy echoes their previous partnership; in 2020, Scott contributed “The Plan” to the soundtrack of the espionage thriller Tenet, a project also produced by Göransson.
