She has done quite a range of acting things and basically has got ownership of her sexual identity, Trina Parks said of Sydney Sweeney in an interview with the Telegraph, as reported by Page Six.

Sydney Sweeney is emerging as a potential contender to join the enduring spy franchise as casting rumors swirl around the upcoming 007 feature. Parks, who broke barriers as the first Black Bond girl alongside Sean Connery in 1971’s Diamonds Are Forever, endorsed the 29-year-old Euphoria star for the iconic role. According to Page Six, Parks noted that Sweeney possesses a classic Hollywood style and poise that benefits her brand.

The Search for the Next 007 Cast and Crew

While official casting decisions remain unannounced, the production machinery behind the next James Bond installment continues to take shape. Amazon MGM Studios acquired the creative rights to 007 from the Broccoli family in 2025. Filmmaker Denis Villeneuve is attached to direct the upcoming movie.

Recent reports indicate that studio screen tests have narrowed down the list of actors vying to play the iconic secret agent. Callum Turner and Jack Lowden, both 36, prepared for final screen tests in late October. Meanwhile, Deadline reported that The Crown star Josh O’Connor and a fourth undisclosed actor also received test offers. Lowden addressed the speculation in an interview with British GQ, calling the ongoing rumors flattering.

Franchise Evolution and Potential Co-Stars

Parks pointed out that modern cinema audiences expect independent female characters who maintain ownership of their sexuality. Beyond Sweeney, industry reports from the Telegraph place The Substance star Margaret Qualley and Sweeney’s Euphoria co-star Zendaya in the conversation for major roles in the franchise. Reports also highlighted the growing speculation surrounding both Sweeney and Zendaya as potential additions to the spy series. The franchise has a long history of prominent female leads, including Ursula Andress, Diana Rigg, Jane Seymour, Famke Janssen, Halle Berry, Denise Richards, Lea Seydoux, and Ana de Armas. Daniel Craig held the 007 mantle across five films from 2006’s Casino Royale through 2021’s No Time to Die, succeeding Pierce Brosnan, Timothy Dalton, Roger Moore, George Lazenby, and Sean Connery.
