Troy Men’s Golf Concludes Regular Season at Mossy Oak Collegiate

The Troy University men’s golf team recently wrapped up its regular season at the Mossy Oak Collegiate Championship in West Point, Mississippi. Competing at the Mossy Oak Golf Club, a par 72, 7,212-yard course, the Trojans faced a challenging field that included 10 teams ranked in the top 75 nationally and three top-20 squads.

Tournament Results and Team Performance

After two days of action, Troy finished 13th overall as a team, ending the tournament at 21 over par. The event, hosted by Mississippi State, featured a 54-hole stroke-play format consisting of 36 holes on Monday and a final 18 holes on Tuesday.

The competition was fierce, with Auburn taking the victory by shooting 46 under par. Ole Miss secured second place, finishing 12 under par.

Individual Standouts

Despite the team’s 13th-place finish, Troy recorded two top-30 individual performances:

  • Pablo Gracia: The freshman from Logrono, Spain, tied for 27th place, shooting one over par and leading the team with 13 birdies.
  • Brantley Scott: The junior tied for 30th place, shooting two over par and recording 12 birdies.

Other contributors included junior Nick Fowlkes, who tied for 55th (seven over par), junior Jake Springer, who tied for 67th (11 over par), and sophomore Will Simpson, who finished 82nd (20 over par).

Building Momentum for the Postseason

This tournament served as the final hurdle before the conference championships. Head coach Clay Bounds leaned on a consistent lineup for three straight weeks, featuring freshmen Lawton and Haston Emblom alongside Gracia, Lee Poppell, and Thomas Crane.

Building Momentum for the Postseason

The Trojans entered the Mossy Oak event with significant momentum, coming off back-to-back fourth-place finishes at the Memphis Intercollegiate and the Irish Creek Intercollegiate. Those performances marked the highest finishes of the year for the program.
