Trump Announces $10 Million for East Palestine, Unveils Controversial Gaza Plan

Former President Donald Trump has recently made two distinct, yet significant, announcements regarding both domestic and international issues. He pledged $10 million towards the continued recovery efforts in East Palestine, Ohio, and simultaneously revealed a proposal for a U.S. Takeover of the Gaza Strip.

East Palestine Recovery Funding

On Thursday, February 20, 2026, Trump announced via his Truth Social platform a commitment of $10 million to aid the community of East Palestine, Ohio. This pledge comes over three years after a train derailment in February 2023 resulted in the release of toxic chemicals Newsweek. Trump framed the aid as a response to what he described as the community being “disgracefully betrayed and forgotten about” by the Biden administration. The funds will be allocated through the Economic Development Administration to support the community’s economic recovery. Gaza Strip Takeover Proposal
