Lipscomb University Outlines Full Scholarship and Financial Aid Structure

Lipscomb University automatically considers all admitted students for academic, service, and leadership scholarships that do not require repayment, the university reported. The institution’s financial aid framework pairs automatic institutional grants with competitive awards, state programs, and transfer pathways. Students must complete the FAFSA to qualify for many of these financial aid opportunities.

Trustee and Specialty Freshmen Awards

Incoming high-achieving freshmen compete for the Trustee Scholarship, a full-tuition award. Selection involves an online application, a video essay, and an interview process for students prompted via email and their Bison Portal. Recipients must live on campus.

Incoming freshmen who hold specific national organization honors receive the Scout Award. Eligible achievements encompass the Trail Life Freedom Award, Venturing Silver Award, Eagle Scout Award, GSUSA Gold Award, Sea Scouting Quartermaster Award, Ambassador Award, or American Heritage Girls Stars and Stripes Award. The Scout Award provides $2,500 per year, requires on-campus living and a 3.0 GPA, and is renewable up to a maximum of eight semesters. Deadline for application is prior to freshman year enrollment.

Denominational and Affiliation Grants

Graduates from an NCSA or a CESA Member School qualify automatically for the Christian Education Scholarship, valued at $5,000 per year. A $5,000 annual Heritage Scholarship may be awarded to first-time freshmen who are members of the Church of Christ or affiliated congregations. These two awards do not stack.

Additionally, Lipscomb matches church contributions up to $500 per year for first-time undergraduate students. The Financial Aid Office applies this church match automatically once funds arrive from the congregation.

Transfer and Pathways Scholarship Criteria

Transfer students bringing in 12 or more credit hours from a four-year university or community college with a minimum 2.5 GPA receive the Lipscomb Pathways Scholarship. Awards range from $14,000 to $20,000 per year for first-time bachelor’s degree seekers. Recipients must maintain a 2.5 cumulative college GPA and enroll full-time, though the award cannot apply to summer classes.

Transfer students providing official membership documentation for Phi Theta Kappa or the National Society of Leadership and Success receive a $3,500 annual award. Furthermore, the Transfer Trustee Scholarship awards eight full-tuition grants in partnership with the Tennessee Board of Regents for students entering with a 3.5 cumulative GPA and 30 or more transferable credits.

Tennessee HOPE Scholarship Integration

Tennessee residents graduating from state high schools qualify for the Tennessee HOPE Scholarship if they maintain residency for at least one year prior to September 1. Students must submit the FAFSA to qualify for this award. Recipients transferring from another institution must notify TSAC to transfer the award.
