Trump labeled De Niro as “a sick and demented person” with a “very Low IQ” in a series of posts on his social media platform. He criticized De Niro’s emotional state during the interview, comparing him unfavorably to Rosie O’Donnell. Trump also suggested that De Niro, along with Representatives Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib, should “get on a boat and leave the country.” He further disparaged Omar and Tlaib, describing them as “crazy people” and suggesting they should be “institutionalized.”

The initial exchange stemmed from De Niro’s appearance on “The Best People With Nicole Wallace” podcast, where he expressed deep concern about the direction of the country under Trump’s leadership. “The story is our country, and Trump is destroying it, and who knows what his reasons are, but it’s sick, it’s fucked up,” De Niro stated. “We have to save the country.”
