London’s Michelin Stars Shine: A Culinary Journey Through Frog, Agora and Coq d’Argent

February 2026 saw a flurry of activity in the UK’s Michelin Guide, with several restaurants receiving accolades. This article explores recent dining experiences at three London establishments – Frog by Adam Handling, Agora, and Coq d’Argent – offering insights into their unique offerings and contributions to the city’s vibrant culinary scene.

Frog by Adam Handling: A Playground of Flavors

Frog, which earned its Michelin star in 2022, offers a glamorous dining experience overseen by George Hersey. A tasting menu (£199) provides an amuse-bouche playground of flavors, followed by sumptuous snacks like “The Chicken and the Egg,” featuring crispy skin, parmesan foam, and truffle custard. The meal continued with Cornish seabream garnished with rose of wafer-thin apple and tomato jelly. A standout dish was the lobster aged in Wagyu fat, served with ‘homemade’ caviar and a hint of kimchi, paired with a Domaine JA Ferret Premier Cru Pouilly Fuisse (£285). The experience concluded with a reimagined black forest gateau.

The restaurant, reminiscent of a gem discovered during a team debrief after opening Gaucho in Covent Garden in 2023, features understated décor with luxurious touches, including irreverent artwork and embossed, pink velvet chairs.

Agora: A Modern Borough Market Experience

Agora, the younger sibling of Michelin-starred OMA, caters to a more youthful demographic in Borough Market. The restaurant doesn’t accept reservations, but the queue is part of the experience, allowing diners to observe chefs at work and enjoy the lively atmosphere.

The menu features fruit-forward cocktails, such as the lemongrass paloma and plum mezcalita, alongside fresh flatbreads served with Greek-spiced spreads. The wine list offers eleven options poured by tap into pewter pots. Lamb adana, Greek salad, and pork and mushroom skewers are highlights of the food menu. While the author prefers the more mature ambiance of OMA, Agora’s cocktails and cuisine are considered faultless.

Coq d’Argent: A Burgundy-Inspired City Staple

Coq d’Argent, a sibling to the Michelin-starred Angler and recognized as City AM’s best roof terrace, continues to deliver a high-quality dining experience. Inspired by Burgundy, the restaurant offers an extensive wine list, including a Puligny Montrachet Premier Cru by Gerard Thomas (£360) and a Gevrey-Chambertin ‘Vielles Vignes’ Maison Roche de Bellene (£170).

Executive chef Damien Rigollet’s team excels in culinary execution, with dishes like tarte au crabe, truffled egg parfait, and terrine de lapin showcasing earthy flavors. Main courses include a refined chou-fleur and a perfectly cooked cote de veau. The coq au vin and tarte tatin are as well recommended.

The Evolv Collection, of which the author is chief executive, celebrated Angler’s 13 consecutive years with a star and the appointment of Miller Prada, who achieved his own star in 2025, as a group culinary consultant.

London currently boasts 88 Michelin-starred restaurants, establishing it as the world’s most diverse and finest food destination.
