Dominique Simonnet: It is a geopolitical, ideological and historical rupture between the United States and Europe. There is an obvious American desire to free itself as much as possible from the commitments inherited from the post-war period.The United States is distancing itself from the idea of the “free world”, as it was said then, which was a military, political and ideological alliance, based on identity and democracy. So this is a critically importent break.
