Tuberculosis Case Identified at Nursery School in Pandino, Italy
Pandino, Italy – March 24, 2026 – A case of tuberculosis (TB) has been identified in a child attending a nursery school in Pandino, Italy. The case involves a student at one of the three state-run sections located on the first floor of a building on Via Milano, situated above the Calleri Gamondi foundation’s private nursery school.
Local health authorities have initiated standard procedures, including testing for children, and staff. Testing will initially focus on attendants at the Calleri Gamondi school, as the two schools share a common dining area, potentially allowing for contact with the infected individual. President Lisa Ardito has informed families via WhatsApp regarding the situation.
Public Health Response and Protocol
Mayor Piergiacomo Bonaventi, Education Councilor Federica Galasi, and other municipal administrators are awaiting official communication from the ATS (Azienda Tutela della Salute – Local Health Authority).
Upon confirmation of a tuberculosis case in a school setting, the ATS is mandated to follow a specific protocol, which includes:
- Activating epidemiological investigation and health surveillance procedures.
- Contacting families of classmates to facilitate diagnostic testing.
- Developing a safety protocol for classmates and both teaching and non-teaching staff.
- Providing clear and timely information to the community to minimize alarm.
- Monitoring the situation and providing necessary treatment to those affected.
