Tuborg’s ‘You Don’t Have To’ Campaign Challenges Gen Z’s Hustle Culture
Copenhagen, Denmark – March 25, 2026 – Tuborg has launched a new global creative campaign, “You Don’t Have To,” aimed at challenging the pressures faced by Gen Z and encouraging authentic self-expression. The campaign directly addresses the anxieties stemming from hustle culture and the pursuit of social media perfectionism.
Addressing Gen Z Anxiety
According to Tuborg’s research, 40% of Gen Z individuals experience constant anxiety due to the pressure to be “always on” and conform to expectations set by previous generations. This campaign seeks to provide a counter-narrative, supporting the pursuit of authenticity and encouraging individuals to abandon toxic norms.
A Multimedia Approach
The fully integrated multimedia campaign spans various platforms, including TV, video on demand, out-of-home advertising, and extensive digital and social media engagement. The campaign utilizes thought-provoking and rebellious storytelling to connect with its target audience.
Collaboration with Jay Park
To bring the campaign to life, Tuborg is collaborating with influential artists and celebrities worldwide. This includes a partnership with Korean American artist Jay Park, who embodies the campaign’s ethos of self-expression, particularly in markets like China, Vietnam, and Myanmar.
Championing Authenticity
“Society loves to set unrealistic expectations and it’s exhausting trying to fit ourselves into boxes that don’t represent who we are. We’re championing those bold enough to reject cultural norms and decide for themselves what they want to do and who they want to be,” says Anna Katrine Drumm-Hakim, Global Director at Tuborg.
Drumm-Hakim further emphasizes that Tuborg has always been about celebrating individual voices and authentic connections, and “You Don’t Have To” aims to foster moments where people can embrace their own rhythm and be true to themselves.
‘Experience the Drop’ Campaign and Music’s Role
Building on this initiative, Tuborg also launched the ‘Feel The Drop’ campaign in 2025, recognizing that 50% of Gen Z report being too stressed to enjoy fun experiences. This campaign leverages the power of music, specifically the “beat drop” in dance music, to encourage Gen Z to disconnect from their chronically online lives and live in the moment.
Jack Calderwood, Tuborg global marketing manager, notes that music has the power to unite people and transform ordinary moments into unforgettable experiences, something Tuborg has always championed.
The ‘Feel The Drop’ campaign, developed with Worth Your While and We Are Social, will run for a year across TV, video-on-demand, social media, out-of-home, digital, and PR channels.
Breaking the Cycle of Stress
Carl Angelo, creative director and founding partner at Worth Your While, explains that the campaign doesn’t tell people what to do, but rather aims to create a feeling—a release from noise and a return to oneself—embodied in the bass, chaos, and even the sound of a bottle cap opening.
