Export Volumes Surge Amidst Strategic Shift
Tunisia’s exports of packaged olive oil climbed 57 % during the first half of 2026, hitting 41 mille tonnes.
According to data presented at the 36th meeting of the Tunisian Olive Oil Council, export revenues followed suit, rising 42 % to reach 666 million dinars. The Tunisian Ministry of Industry, Mines, and Energy confirmed this growth during the July 20, 2026, meeting, citing it as proof that efforts to promote Tunisian products abroad are gaining traction.
Expanding the Global Footprint
Tunisian exporters reached 62 international markets in the first half of 2026. While staples like Canada, the United States, France, Belgium, and various Gulf nations remain the bedrock of the trade, the sector is successfully branching out.
Official reports confirm that new trade channels are now open in Brazil, China, Russia, and Jordan.
Direct-to-Consumer Marketing Push
To sustain this momentum, the Tunisian Olive Oil Council has greenlit a series of promotional programs for 2026 and a general interest campaign for 2027.
A central pillar of this strategy is the pivot to “Business to Consumer” (B2C) operations. By leveraging digital marketing and targeted advertising, the industry aims to bypass traditional wholesale dependency and engage end-users directly, aligning with evolving international consumer preferences.
Benchmarking Excellence in Production
Public and private sector cooperation remains the engine of this growth.
The Council officially validated the results of the National Contest for the Best Packaged Olive Oil for the 2025/2026 season. Organized by the Technical Center for the Food Industry, the competition acts as a benchmark for excellence, pushing domestic producers to meet the high standards required by international buyers.
