TV Nova to Replace "God's Plán" with New Series "Men in Flight"

God’s Plan Reaches Final Weeks on TV Nova Ahead of Planned Replacement

Television viewers following the Czech series God’s plan on TV Nova have only a few weeks left before the 24-episode run concludes, with the network preparing a short eight-episode drama titled Men in Flight to take over the Tuesday and Thursday evening slots, as reported by MediaGuru. God’s plan premiered on September 1, airing twice weekly. Based on an episode count of 24, MediaGuru calculates that the finale will likely broadcast in mid-November, though TV Nova has not yet published an exact calendar date for the transition and officially promises only an autumn handover.

Ratings Race Between God’s Plan and Elbe

The incoming replacement does not signal a cancellation, as TV Nova regularly promotes high viewership figures for the current series on social media and mapped out the autumn schedule before the premiere. On Tuesday, October 27, God’s plan drew 591 tisíc viewers aged 15 and older, capturing a 19.16 percent audience share, according to daily figures published by MediaGuru. Rival broadcaster Prima pulled in 585 tisíc viewers for Elbe during the same time slot, leaving a razor-thin margin of six thousand viewers between the two programs. While overall viewership remains closely contested, God’s plan pulls ahead significantly among younger demographics. In the 15–54 age bracket, Nova’s series reached 210 tisíc viewers compared to Prima’s 94 tisíc.

Cast Dynamics in God’s Plan and Men in Flight

The outgoing series centers on a shared apartment where three young men—played by Marek Lambora, Václav Matějovský, and Filip Březina alongside Tomáš Jeřábek and Michaela Petřeková—attempt to live life on their own terms. TVGURU.cz notes that the narrative follows a group of distinct personalities whose individual plans frequently collide in a shared household, offering viewers a straightforward evening escape.

Replacing them in the late autumn schedule will be three veterans of the Czech stage and screen: Pavel Zedníček, Miroslav Donutil, and Bolek Polívka, three real-life classmates from Brno’s Academy of Performing Arts (JAMU). Directed by Petr Nikolaev and filmed primarily in the Central Bohemian Region near Karlštejn, the eight-episode series Men in Flight explores a nearly seventy-year friendship. Zedníček portrays an aviation instructor named Béda who loves flying and his wife Lidka, played by Milena Steinmasslová. Donutil plays a professional pilot named Sláva who secretly loves Lidka, while Polívka features as a bon vivant farmer named Josef who attempts to reconcile the two men. Creative producer Lukáš Borovička described the project to MediaGuru as a multigenerational story connected by old dreams, painful loss, and fresh starts, while screenwriter Lucie Konečná characterized it simply as a story about male friendship enduring nearly seven decades.

Unresolved Schedule Details for the November Handover

While the scheduling math points toward a mid-November conclusion for the 24-part drama, TVGURU.cz emphasizes that exact broadcast dates remain subject to change depending on final programming adjustments by TV Nova. Whether Men in Flight will match the youth-skewing appeal of its predecessor remains unconfirmed, as does any potential future continuation for God’s plan.
