Puebla Authorities Arrest Two Men for Selling Stolen Vehicle Parts via Facebook Marketplace

Two men, identified as Miguel Ángel N. and Jimmy Misael N., were arrested in Puebla, Mexico, while attempting to sell vehicle parts stolen from a Honda HR-V on Facebook Marketplace. Agents from the Specialized General Coordination for Vehicle Theft Investigation of the Fiscalía General del Estado (FGE) apprehended the suspects during a coordinated sting operation in the Lomas de Angelópolis area.

The Investigation and Sting Operation

The incident began on July 14, when the owner of a gray Honda HR-V reported the theft of four tires and their respective rims while the vehicle was parked outside a gym in the Bello Horizonte neighborhood. After the victim notified investigators, authorities verified that the items matched the description of the stolen property.

To secure the arrest, investigators posed as potential buyers and arranged a meeting at a commercial plaza near Chedraui Selecto in Lomas de Angelópolis. Upon the suspects’ arrival, ministerial agents took both men into custody. In addition to the stolen Honda parts, authorities seized a gray Chevrolet Monza and an Italika FT125 motorcycle, the latter of which lacked license plates.

Criminal Modus Operandi and Legal Consequences

The FGE stated that the suspects are believed to be members of a criminal group specializing in stripping vehicles for parts, which are then listed for sale on social media platforms.

The FGE is currently investigating whether the detainees are linked to other similar vehicle theft cases in the region. Authorities have issued an official request for citizens who may have been victims of similar crimes to come forward and file a formal report. Providing additional testimony or evidence is intended to strengthen the prosecution’s case and help investigators map the full extent of the group’s criminal activities.
