Two people sustained minor injuries following a two-vehicle collision on Landesstraße 22 in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, according to an incident report released by the Neubrandenburg Police Headquarters. The crash occurred on July 30, 2026, at approximately 7:50 p.m. between Müggenhall and Millienhagen, involving a Volkswagen Caddy and an Opel passenger car.
Crash Dynamics on Landesstraße 22
According to the Neubrandenburg Police Headquarters, a 32-year-old driver operating a VW Caddy was traveling northbound on Landesstraße 22 from Millienhagen toward Müggenhall. The driver initiated a passing maneuver to overtake a slow-moving truck ahead of him. Simultaneously, a 30-year-old driver operating an Opel passenger car approached from Wolfshagen via a local municipal roadway. Police stated that the Opel driver attempted a right-hand turn onto Landesstraße 22 heading toward Millienhagen.
Investigators determined that the Opel driver failed to observe official right-of-way signage, designated as Zeichen 205, before entering the main highway. The Opel drove onto L 22 and collided directly with the VW Caddy while the Caddy was actively completing its passing maneuver.
Emergency Response and Property Damage
According to the police report, both the 32-year-old Caddy driver and the 30-year-old Opel driver sustained minor injuries and received medical treatment at the scene from dispatched emergency personnel.
Emergency resources deployed to the location included the Franzburg volunteer fire department (Freiwillige Feuerwehr Franzburg), two rescue ambulances, and an emergency physician vehicle. Both involved vehicles suffered disabling damage and were rendered completely inoperable. Law enforcement officials estimated the total material property damage at 15,000 euros. The owners arranged for the towing and recovery of both wrecked vehicles independently, under the coordination of the police department led on-scene by First Police Chief Inspector Sebastian Meinhardt.
