Ukraine Announces Pension and Fuel Support Measures for April 2026
The Ukrainian government is preparing to provide financial assistance to pensioners and address rising fuel costs in April 2026. These measures aim to support approximately 13 million Ukrainians, including pensioners and recipients of social assistance, amidst economic challenges.
Pension Payments
Starting in April, at least 13 million Ukrainian pensioners and social assistance recipients will receive an additional payment of 1,500 Ukrainian hryvnias (UAH). President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this initiative on social media, emphasizing that the funds will be automatically credited to eligible individuals without requiring additional paperwork or applications.
Fuel Cashback Program
In response to fuel market instability, the government is similarly introducing a cashback program to help Ukrainians offset the cost of diesel, gasoline, and liquefied petroleum gas. The details of this program, including the percentage of cashback offered, are expected to be announced shortly by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
Program Implementation
President Zelenskyy stated that these support programs were developed in collaboration with Prime Minister Svyrydenko, First Deputy Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, and Ministers Oleksiy Sobolev and Denys Uliutin. The Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine is responsible for preparing the pension payment program, ensuring a smooth and efficient distribution of funds.
Addressing Fuel Market Concerns
The fuel cashback program is a direct response to the destabilization of the fuel market, influenced by the situation around Iran and global oil supply reductions. The government aims to alleviate the financial burden on consumers by partially compensating for fuel expenses.
