Scheduled to debut on June 1 alongside La Cité du Vin, the specialized venue aims to serve an estimated 450,000 annual visitors by offering an expansive selection of sparkling, white, red, rosé, liquoreux, and sweet natural wines sourced globally.
Latitude 20 Infrastructure and Global Selection
According to Didier Oudin of the operating company AROM, the installation features a custom-built elliptical display unit wrapping around the venue’s walls to hold the inventory. Wine merchant Régis Deltil of Vinimarché and Passion Vins in Pessac curated the global collection, collaborating directly with international importers and digital suppliers. Access to the cellar is open to all visitors regardless of whether they hold an admission ticket to the broader cultural center. To educate consumers, every bottle priced between 5 and 50 euros carries a sticker featuring a QR code compatible with Apple and Android devices. Scanning the code directs users to explanatory videos produced in English, French, Spanish, and Chinese, with commentary provided by 2007 world sommelier champion Andreas Larsson, according to published statements from the operators.
Wine Bar and Dining Operations
Connected directly to the retail cellar is a 120-seat wine bar featuring a large terrace overlooking the Garonne River, managed by Didier Oudin’s team. Patrons can purchase any reference from the cellar to consume on-site at retail bottle prices by paying a 10-euro corkage fee. The food menu focuses on tapas, charcuterie and cheese boards, and crafted small plates, with an average dining check ranging between 15 and 25 euros. Operating daily from 11:00 AM to midnight, the venue also includes a 300-square-meter snack space that transforms into a private rental area accommodating up to 200 guests after closing hours.
Panoramic Restaurant Management
Occupying the seventh floor of La Cité du Vin is a separate panoramic restaurant holding 70 indoor seats and 40 protected terrace seats, providing views across Bordeaux. According to Didier Oudin, the restaurant is controlled by local restaurateur Nicolas Lascombes—who holds a 60 percent stake and operates ventures such as La Brasserie Bordelaise and Le Bouchon du Ferret—alongside the AROM team. The top-floor eatery serves fresh, locally sourced dishes in a continuous daily service until midnight, with average checks anticipated at 35 euros for lunch and 45 euros for dinner, alongside afternoon tea service, brunch offerings, and combined cooking and wine workshops.
Tasting Committee Leadership
Prominent international oenologist Michel Rolland was appointed as honorary president of the tasting committee for the facility. Outlining his involvement to the press, Rolland stated that he intends to act as the guardian of the temple for the establishment’s selections.
