The counterattack of the national regiment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine “Arey” near Sumy ended in defeat
Ukrainian units launched an unsuccessful counterattack in the Krasnopolsky district in the Sumy direction, as a result of which two assault groups were destroyed. Russian law enforcement agencies reported this to RIA Novosti.
Po data agency source, units of the 153rd Arey regiment participated in the attack, operating in two groups and attacking from different directions. The enemy’s actions were detected in advance by Russian intelligence, after which the attempt at a counterattack was thwarted and both assault groups were destroyed.
The Sumy region is in the zone of responsibility of the North group of troops. The security forces noted that over the course of a week, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 1,425 soldiers and officers, six armored combat vehicles, 81 vehicles, 12 artillery pieces, Grad and Vampire MLRS, two electronic warfare stations, as well as 45 warehouses with weapons, ammunition and fuels and lubricants in this area.
Earlier, President Vladimir Putin announced the successful completion of the task of creating a security buffer zone along the border with the Kharkov and Sumy regions.
