Ukraine’s Unique Air Defense: Small Drones Against a Range of Threats

Ukraine has a unique air defense system – no other country in the world is relying on small, single-use drones to defend its airspace. However, this innovation was born out of necessity and exemplifies the nature of modern warfare. ukrainian interceptor drones are engaging Russian Geran-2s,Orlan-10s,Molnyas,and other drones. Thay are also destroying much smaller targets.

Surprisingly, small, slow drones are actually the most difficult to track. Mobile radar systems can detect them, but the smallest quadcopters can easily be mistaken for birds.Their electric motors produce a weak thermal signature, and their speed and agility make visual detection challenging.
