UMass Dartmouth women’s tennis secured a victory over Little East Conference opponent VTSU Castleton, sweeping all three doubles matches and capturing multiple straight-set singles wins. The match showcased dominant performances from the Corsairs’ lineup in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, as the squad advanced their season record.
Doubles Play Dominance by the Corsairs
The Corsairs established early momentum by taking all three doubles contests. Mya Dean and Alyson Tobias earned a 6-4 win. Tamia McQueen and Gianna Doiron outlasted their opponents in a tight tiebreaker, winning 7-6 with a 7-2 tiebreak score. Ava Aguiar and Sofia Beltran added a 6-3 victory to complete the doubles sweep for UMass Dartmouth.
Singles Matches Seal the Sweep
UMass Dartmouth carried their momentum into singles play, securing decisive straight-set victories across the board. Mya Dean swept her opponent 6-0, 6-0. Alyson Tobias nearly matched that performance with a 6-0, 6-1 win. Gianna Doiron won in two sets at 6-3, 6-0, while Sofia Beltran closed out the scoring with a 6-0, 6-2 victory.

VTSU Castleton Faces University of Southern Maine Saturday
VTSU Castleton previously faced UMass Boston in a Breast Cancer Awareness matchup on Wednesday afternoon. Playing without their regular number one and number three players, the Spartans fell 7-0 to UMass Boston. Maggie McKearin put up the toughest fight of the day for Castleton at number three singles, winning the second set 6-3 before dropping a close 10-7 third-set tiebreaker. VTSU Castleton travels to the University of Southern Maine on Saturday, October 10, 2026, for a Little East Conference match with the first serve scheduled for 1:00 PM. UMass Dartmouth returns to the court on Monday, September 21, 2026, traveling to face Nichols College at 4:00 PM.
