The Cinema Inclusion Factory (CIF), an initiative co-ideated by Leonardo Accattoli, Ilaria Bambozzi, and Francesca Bettini, is set to debut in the Marche region in collaboration with AST Macerata and in Trieste with Fondazione La Fonte Comunità Famiglia ETS. The project aims to make cinema accessible to people with diverse fragilities by offering training, skill development, and professional opportunities within a structured creative process. The first phase will focus on education in areas such as acting, writing, directing, and technical roles, with participants’ roles emerging organically based on their abilities and interests. A professional audiovisual production is planned for the second phase, with completion expected by December 2027.
CIF, conceived by Favola Fragile ETS, builds on years of work to create inclusive spaces where people with disabilities can contribute to film production. Accattoli emphasized that the initiative is not about addressing fragility but transforming it through collaborative filmmaking. “The cinema, more than any other art form, is paritarian: a set cannot be completed without the contribution of all crew members,” said Bambozzi. The project also seeks to challenge societal labels that reduce individuals to their vulnerabilities, with Accattoli noting, “When a person becomes their fragility, they forget all the other aspects that make them a person.”
Forming Partnerships with AST Macerata and Fondazione La Fonte
CIF’s development involves partnerships with AST Macerata’s Prevenzione Sicurezza Ambienti di Lavoro and Fondazione La Fonte in Trieste. The initiative emerged from Favola Fragile ETS’s long-term efforts to bridge the gap between the film industry and socio-assistential sectors. Accattoli, a filmmaker and theater artist, described CIF as a response to the need for “real, safe, and encouraging spaces” where diverse individuals can participate in creative projects.

Additional collaborations include a partnership with Voltaggio Development for the CEDRARAVENNA NIGHTMARE FILM FEST 24, which will showcase CIF’s work. The project will also feature in the VITERBOSHORT 3 festival, with winners announced on SOTTODICIOTTO 27. An event in Altavilla, the ALTAVILLA FILM FEST, will take place. On October 20, CIF’s activities will be broadcast in a second-night slot on Rai 5, as reported by Gaumont Italia.
Final Output Completion Scheduled
The final output is scheduled for completion by December 2027.
Redefining Inclusion as Collaborative
CIF’s approach centers on redefining inclusion as a collaborative process rather than a passive gesture.
“This is the question that started everything a while ago, when Leonardo Accattoli decided to found Favola Fragile,” said Accattoli, who added, “Today I can say it is possible. Not only is it possible, but the synergy between training and shared artistic work could even become a method.”
