The IEOM Society International has issued a call for papers for the 10th European International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management, scheduled to take place from June 22 to June 24, 2027, at the University of Bologna in Italy. Dr. Leonardo Frizziero, an associate professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at the host university, serves as the conference chair for the three-day event.
The conference invites researchers, academics, industry professionals, students, and practitioners to submit original research papers, abstracts, case studies, and industry applications. Accepted full papers will undergo a double-blind peer-review process and will be published in open-access conference proceedings assigned with DOI numbers. These proceedings will be submitted for indexing in CrossRef, Google Scholar, the IEOM Index, and EBSCO.
Authors Must Submit Papers by March 1
Authors must submit their full papers or abstracts by March 1, 2027. Review feedback will be provided on an ongoing basis following submissions. Authors of accepted works must complete their conference registration by March 31, 2027. The final camera-ready paper deadline is set for June 1, 2027.
The event structure spans fifteen distinct conference tracks, covering fields such as Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Automation, Robotics and Autonomous Systems, Digital Transformation, Industry 4.0 and IoT, Supply Chain and Logistics, and Sustainability, Green Systems and Energy. Special tracks will also address Global Engineering Education, Smart Mobility and Smart Cities, and a Women in Industry and Academia diversity and inclusion panel sponsored by Ford Motor Company.
Industrial Firms Sponsor Student Research Competitions
A broad array of student competitions forms a central pillar of the 2027 program, offering platforms for both undergraduate and graduate researchers. Major industrial manufacturers and technology firms are backing these events. Siemens sponsors the Undergraduate Student Paper Competition, while Eaton Corporation backs the Graduate Student Paper Competition. Additional competitions include a Master’s Thesis event, a Doctoral Dissertation competition sponsored by Airbus, and a Final Year Project/Senior Design competition sponsored by Tooling Tech Group.
Further student categories include undergraduate research supported by Daikin Applied, high school STEM challenges, artificial intelligence and machine learning challenges, human factors and ergonomics, simulation, lean six sigma, and a supply chain management competition sponsored by aThingz. Amatrol Inc. is sponsoring the Global Design Competition, complementing a poster exhibition and specialized domain events.
Motor Valley Plant Visits and Logistics
Positioned within Italy’s established Motor Valley, the conference program includes tentative industrial visits to high-performance automotive manufacturing facilities. Subject to confirmation and availability, registered participants may tour the Ferrari facilities in Maranello, Lamborghini operations in Sant’Agata Bolognese, and Maserati production lines in Modena. These potential site visits aim to demonstrate advanced production systems, engineering innovations, and factory floor operations.
International and regional participants can access the venue through Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport (BLQ). The airport maintains direct flight connections with major European aviation hubs, including Frankfurt, Munich, Paris, Amsterdam, London, and Istanbul. Detailed templates, registration portals, and submission links are maintained on the official IEOM Society website.
