University of New Mexico Cross Country Teams Sweep Mountain West Championships in Reno
The University of New Mexico cross-country teams swept the Mountain West Championships in Reno, Nevada, capturing both team titles and individual crowns for the third consecutive season. Running at Washoe Golf Course, the program secured its 28th total conference title on Saturday, driven by a record-breaking performance from Pamela Kosgei and a rare perfect score from the men’s squad.
With this accomplishment, UNM has achieved a three-peat of team title sweeps for the first time since claiming both the men’s and women’s crowns across six consecutive years from 2009-2014. Darren Gauson earned his third straight sweep of the Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year honors for UNM, while Faith Ngetich and Pasanjo Kitonga collected the Women’s Freshman of the Year and MW Men’s Freshman of the Year accolades, respectively.
