UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025 Results Announced: 958 Candidates Selected
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025 on March 6, 2026, following the completion of the Personality Test phase. A total of 958 candidates have been recommended for appointment to prestigious positions in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and various Central Services in Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.
Category-wise Recommendations
The selection process reflects diversity, with recommendations made across various categories:
- General Category: 317 candidates
- Economically Weaker Sections (EWS): 104 candidates
- Other Backward Classes (OBC): 306 candidates
- Scheduled Castes (SC): 158 candidates
- Scheduled Tribes (ST): 73 candidates
the recommendations include candidates under the Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) categories:
- PwBD-1: 10 candidates
- PwBD-2: 14 candidates
- PwBD-3: 9 candidates
- PwBD-5: 9 candidates
The UPSC has stated that the reservation status of recommended candidates under EWS, OBC, SC, ST, and PwBD categories will be verified by the relevant authorities.
Vacancies and Services
A total of 1,087 vacancies were reported for the examination process. These include:
- IAS: 180 vacancies
- IFS: 55 vacancies
- IPS: 150 vacancies
- Central Services Group ‘A’: 507 vacancies
- Central Services Group ‘B’: 195 vacancies
The distribution of vacancies across categories mirrors the candidate recommendations: 446 for the general category, 104 for EWS, 306 for OBC, 158 for SC, and 73 for ST, with 42 posts reserved for PwBD categories.
Reserve and Extended Lists
In accordance with the Civil Services Examination Rules 2025, the UPSC has maintained a consolidated reserve list of 258 candidates. This list comprises:
- General Category: 129 candidates
- EWS: 26 candidates
- OBC: 86 candidates
- SC: 8 candidates
- ST: 6 candidates
- PwBD: 3 candidates
An extended list has also been prepared under the same rules.
Provisional Candidature and Withheld Results
The candidature of 348 recommended candidates is provisional, pending verification. The results of two candidates have been withheld.
