Six New Austin Restaurant Debuts and Market Revivals Open Across the City

Austin diners face a busy period ahead as several food concepts launch new spaces, ranging from classic neighborhood steakhouses to a revived public market, CultureMap Austin reported. The wave of openings brings regional Texas cuts to a former Burnet Road kitchen site, vegan promotions to Mueller, and a family-run taqueria transition on South First Street.

Steakhouse Emery opened its doors on November 5 at 4800 Burnet Rd., Ste. A-100, bringing a classic menu that highlights regional producers and desserts. The location previously housed Gusto Italian Kitchen before that restaurant’s staff reported that the owner left without paying owed wages.

Feral Pizza and Mission Burger Expand Neighborhood Menus

Feral Pizza set up its large trailer at the side yard of Duval Market at 500 E. 51st St., kicking off its soft reopening on November 6. The trailer operates limited hours from Thursdays through Sundays between 4 pm and 8 pm, or until sold out, serving dark and crispy crusts, with guests loving the menu items with ricotta.

Plant-based concept Mission Burger scheduled its grand opening celebration for November 11 from 6 pm to 10 pm at its Mueller location at 1200 Barbara Jordan Blvd., Ste. 360. The evening features vegan flash tattoos, buy-one-get-one specials, merchandise discounts, raffles, and a year’s supply of burgers for a winner, with free burger specials designated for the first 50 people in line.

South Congress and South First Street Welcome Fresh Concepts

Vegetarian restaurant The Butcher’s Daughter announced an opening date of November 15 at 1600 South Congress Ave., where it shares space with vinyl listening bar Only The Wild Ones. The brand, which operates four other locations in New York City and Los Angeles, brands itself as a vegetable slaughterhouse to mirror steakhouse culture through a plant-based lens.

Taquería Chapala shifted operations into 2448 S. 1st St., taking over a space previously occupied by Taqueria Arandas #5. Mauricio Lopez announced the move on Facebook, with an opening date set for November 3, confirming that the family-run team continues serving its long-standing menu.

Dallas and Sarah Miller Revive Oakwood Public Market

Dallas and Sarah Miller revived the once-defunct Oakwood Public Market at 2500 Beverly Dr. after stepping in from Dripping Springs. Following a quieter opening in September, the family scheduled a grand opening event for 4 pm on November 18, featuring food and drink specials, local vendor pop-ups, live music, and children’s activities. The market serves coffee, pizza, Italian and Southwestern food, cocktails, and pantry items.

Salam’s Grill, a food truck operated by Chef Amr Hammad, celebrated its first anniversary on November 6 by pivoting its menu to Mexican cuisine, serving lamb and beef birria tacos alongside free baklava and live mariachi music. Meanwhile, volunteers participating in It’s My Park Day on November 7 earned discounts and free items across Austin businesses by presenting their volunteer T-shirts and stickers at participating spots like Blue Owl Brewing, Brew & Brew, and Gelato Paradiso.
