U.S. Bank Purchases Biochar Carbon Removal Credits

U.S. Bank announced its initial purchase of carbon removal credits sourced from Carbon Pulse, an agricultural and industrial biochar producer. Biochar is formed by heating biomass—such as agricultural residues or forestry waste—in an oxygen-deprived environment through a process called pyrolysis. This locks the carbon into a solid form that can be buried in soil or used in construction materials, preventing it from returning to the atmosphere as carbon dioxide for hundreds of years.
