Vision Components Launches Compact VC EvoCam for Edge AI Vision
Ettlingen, Germany – February 18, 2026 – Vision Components is introducing the VCSBC EvoCam, a new generation of all-in-one intelligent board-level camera designed for embedded vision applications. The compact camera, measuring just 65 x 40 mm, integrates all necessary components for image acquisition and processing, aiming to simplify and accelerate the integration of vision systems into smart devices and industrial applications.
All-in-One Design and Key Features
The VC EvoCam is designed to be highly configurable, supporting numerous image sensors and adaptable through interface boards. It can be equipped with either an onboard image sensor or one or two cable-connected remote-head cameras, utilizing image sensors from the VC MIPI Camera portfolio. The first VC EvoCam presented at embedded world features the Sony IMX900 image sensor, offering 3.2 MP resolution and a global shutter. [1]
At the heart of the VC EvoCam is the MediaTek Genio 510 Edge AI processor, featuring two ARM Cortex-A78 and four ARM Cortex-A55 cores, an ARM Mali GPU and a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) with a performance of 3.2 TOPS. The system supports up to 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of flash memory, and expandability via SD 3.0 for processing and storing extensive image data. [1]
Connectivity and Integration
The VC EvoCam features a 100-pin board-to-board connector, providing access to a wide range of interfaces including I/Os, I²C, USB, Ethernet, Video DSI, and PCIe. This connector facilitates integration into devices and applications. [3]
Vision Components will offer a minimalist interface board at the start of volume production in the first half of 2026, providing power supply, I/Os for trigger and flash, as well as USB and RJ45/LAN connectivity. A more extensive development kit will follow shortly, routing all connector signals to physical interfaces. The company also offers support for customers developing individual interface boards and integrating the VC EvoCam into their designs. [2]
Software and Operating System
The VC EvoCam is supplied with a customized Debian Linux operating system, including common image processing functions and demo applications. [3]
“With the MediaTek Genio 510, we choose a processor that combines high computing power with a favorable price-performance ratio,” said Jan-Erik Schmitt, VP of Sales at Vision Components. “The connection between camera and processor board, drivers, and access to the processing units are completely prepared. The VC EvoCam aims at smart devices and various professional and industrial applications. It makes the integration of vision systems faster and easier.” [2]
In addition to the VC EvoCam, Vision Components is showcasing the VC MIPI IMX454 Camera Module for multispectral imaging. [3]
