Veracruz Gears Up for CONADE 2026 National Olympiad in Cycling, Badminton, Judo, and Chess
Xalapa and Veracruz City are preparing to host the state stage of the CONADE 2026 National Olympiad, a multi-sport event that will showcase the talent of athletes in cycling, badminton, judo, and chess. The competitions are scheduled to take place from January 22nd to February 1st, 2026, as reported by the Veracruzano Sports Institute.
Cycling Takes Center Stage in Xalapa
Cycling events will kick off the state stage, returning to Xalapa after being held in Tuxpan during the 2025 edition. The schedule includes:
- Time Trial: January 22nd and 23rd on the Coatepec Bypass.
- Road Test: January 25th, also on the Coatepec Bypass.
- Mountain Biking: January 24th on the La Calera track in the Banderilla area.
- Track Cycling: January 22nd to February 1st at the Xalapa International Velodrome, which will also host the 2026 National Track Championship.
Badminton, Judo, and Chess Competitions
Badminton athletes will compete in eliminatory rounds from January 23rd to 25th at the Racquet Center of the Ciudad Deportiva Leyes de Reforma. Judo and chess athletes will then take their turn from January 30th to February 1st in Xalapa, vying for a spot in the regional stage leading to the National Final of the CONADE 2026 National Olympiad.

Adjusted Schedule Due to FIFA World Cup
The early timing of these state-level competitions is a result of adjustments to the national sports calendar, prompted by the FIFA World Cup. This has led to an advancement of the selection processes across various states in Mexico. Veracruz State Government reported this adjustment.
Regional Participation
Representatives from Oaxaca, Tlaxcala, Hidalgo, and UNAM will participate in the table tennis competitions held at the Xalapa International Velodrome. Archysport confirms the regional scope of the event.
