Vermeer Corp., the Pella-based manufacturer of industrial and agricultural equipment, has officially commenced construction on its new manufacturing facility in Bondurant, Iowa. The new facility is set to be constructed on approximately 186 acres of land. This expansion serves as a permanent anchor for the company’s operations in the Des Moines metro area, where it first established a presence in 2023. Vermeer’s decision to build in Bondurant follows a period of rapid growth in a leased facility, which currently employs more than 140 people.

According to Vermeer President and CEO Jason Andringa, the move represents an “important step in Vermeer’s commitment to growth, the state of Iowa and the greater Des Moines metro.” Once operational, the new site is expected to employ more than 300 people.

The site’s location on the city’s southeast side provides logistical advantages, including proximity to Interstate 80 and efficient connectivity to the company’s primary headquarters in Pella. Construction is currently underway with oversight by Jensen Builders, and the company anticipates beginning manufacturing operations by mid-2027.

The project has garnered significant support from both state and local authorities. In February 2026, the Iowa Economic Development Authority approved $5.13 million in incentives for the project. The city of Bondurant has committed more than $29.45 million in incentives, which include infrastructure improvements, building permit discounts, and a six-year sliding scale property tax abatement.

Bondurant City Administrator Marketa Oliver described the development as a “game-changer” for the community of approximately 9,400 residents.
