Vestas has secured two firm wind energy orders with a combined capacity of 614 megawatts in Western Australia, forming part of the company’s order intake for the third quarter of 2026. Announced by Vestas Asia Pacific from Seoul, the new contracts involve supplying technology for the Parron Maam Marang and Kondinin wind farms, reinforcing the country’s rapidly advancing energy transition.
The projects involve a total of 99 wind turbines of the V162-6.2 MW type from the EnVentus platform, tailored specifically to local site conditions. Alongside the turbine supply, the agreements feature 30-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service contracts. Purvin Patel, Regional President Asia Pacific at Vestas, stated: These projects are about more than generating renewable energy. They are helping build an energy system that is secure, affordable, and sustainable for Australia over the long term. Australia is a key market for Vestas, and these projects underline how our EnVentus wind turbine technology is ideally suited to meet our customers‘ needs and make a strong contribution to the country’s rapidly advancing energy transition.
Project Details and Capacities
The 614 MW total capacity is divided between two separate customer developments in Western Australia:
- Parron Maam Marang Wind Farm: Developed with customer Atmos Renewables, this project accounts for 484 MW and utilizes 78 units of the V162-6.2 MW turbine variant. Delivery is planned for 2027, with commissioning scheduled for 2028.
- Kondinin Wind Farm: Developed with customer Foresight Group, this project totals 130 MW and incorporates 21 units of the V162-6.2 MW turbine variant. Delivery is similarly planned for 2027, with commissioning scheduled for 2028.
Broader Impact in Western Australia
According to Vestas, these newly announced developments will act alongside the existing Warradarge, Warradarge 2, King Rocks, and Waddi wind energy projects. Together, the group of initiatives is designed to strengthen energy security, support affordable electricity supplies, and demonstrate Vestas‘ capability to help customers scale renewable energy throughout the region.
