Viera High School Announces 2026 Principal Scholars
Viera High School has recognized 51 students as Principal Scholars for the Class of 2026. The award acknowledges students’ achievements in academics, community involvement and extracurricular activities. Selection criteria include a weighted GPA of 4.0 or higher, fulfilling the College and Career Acceleration requirement, along with demonstrated commitment to volunteer work, school clubs, sports, and other activities.
Selection Process and Criteria
To be considered for the Principal Scholar award, students must meet several criteria. These include a significant commitment to community service through volunteer or work hours, and active participation in school-based extracurriculars such as sports, clubs, and band. Applicants are as well required to submit an application and respond to essay prompts.
From a pool of 106 applicants, the school selects the top 10 percent of the graduating class. With 510 seniors this year, 51 students were chosen. The selection process prioritizes the rigor of courses taken, the extent of community and school involvement, and leadership roles, with GPA serving as a tiebreaker.
