According to event organizers, the tournament is scheduled to take place on August 23, 2026, from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM at the Viet Hung Pickleball Court in Hac Thanh Ward, Thanh Hoa, featuring men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles categories.
According to the Vietnam Women's Newspaper, the delegation presented gift sets—each including 1 million VND in cash and additional items—to 50 cancer patients facing severe financial hardship. Organizers handed 45 packages directly at the main event space, while the remaining five were delivered to patients in the emergency and intensive care units.
Luông Thị Hạnh, Vice Chairman of the Thanh Hoa Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, President of the Thanh Hoa Women’s Union, and Co-Head of the tournament organizing committee, emphasized the humanitarian significance of the outreach. According to Luông Thị Hạnh, cancer patients confront severe economic, time, and emotional pressures alongside health challenges. While a single gift cannot resolve all hardships, organizers hope the contributions provide warmth, faith, and encouragement to help patients continue their medical treatments.
Expanding Medical Access Through Community Partnerships
The Thanh Hoa Women's Union maintains social welfare activities as a core priority, mobilizing resources from agencies, businesses, and philanthropists to assist vulnerable residents. According to Trần Văn Thiết, the advancement of a specialized cancer hospital relies not only on medical staff dedication but also on collaborative upgrades to infrastructure, equipment, and information technology.
Trần Văn Thiết stated that contributions from organizations, businesses, and donors create additional resources that enable the hospital to adopt advanced technologies and techniques, including artificial intelligence applications for examination, diagnosis, and treatment. Alongside clinical care, the facility maintains sports grounds and exercise facilities to encourage physical activity among staff and patients, promoting physical and mental health inspired by the spirit of the pickleball tournament.
Patient Impact and Community Response
Among the recipients was Lê Sỹ Sinh, a 70-year-old resident of Thuong Xuan commune, Thanh Hoa province, who is currently receiving treatment in the emergency and intensive care unit. Speaking about the visit, Lê Sỹ Sinh expressed deep gratitude for the attention and encouragement from the organizing committee, hospital staff, and partnering organizations, calling the financial and material support a valuable blessing during a challenging period of medical care lasting over two months.
Lê Sỹ Sinh’s family relies primarily on farming and manual labor for income, creating substantial financial strains alongside ongoing treatment and living expenses. The assistance provided by the tournament organizers and hospital partners directly alleviates a portion of this economic burden, offering tangible support for the family as treatment continues.
