Vietnam Delegation Preparations and Send-Off Plans

According to reports from the Vietnam Sports Administration, the national sports body is finalizing its final strength assessments ahead of establishing the official Vietnamese delegation for the 20th Asian Games. Initial projections indicate that Vietnam will send nearly 500 members to compete in Japan. This figure aligns closely with the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China, in 2023, where the Vietnamese delegation comprised 504 members, according to historical delegation records.

Local media coverage from the Lao Dong newspaper indicates that Hanoi is slated to host the official delegation send-off ceremony. While current programming schedules target September 9 for the celebratory event, specialized departments are actively refining the operational scenarios and timing. Final schedules remain subject to formal review and approval by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism before organizers lock in the itinerary.

Although the opening ceremony does not take place until September 19, competition in select sports will kick off early on September 10 in accordance with the official tournament schedule.

Torch Relay and Pre-Games Timeline

Build-up events across Japan will precede the opening ceremony. The organizing committee confirmed that the official Asian Games torch relay program will run from August 22 through September 18, traveling across multiple venues throughout Japan to build public engagement ahead of the competition.
