Wales Welcomes Its First Fully Vegan Hotel, Ffarm Hall

Wales is set to become a haven for plant-based travelers with the opening of Ffarm Hall, the country’s first fully vegan hotel. Located in Betws-yn-Rhos, near Abergele on the north coast of Wales, the hotel is now accepting bookings for stays beginning in May [1].

Ffarm Hall is the latest venture from Louise and Andy Macbeth, the owners of Beck Hall in the Yorkshire Dales, England, which became England’s first entirely plant-based hotel in 2023 [2]. The Macbeths announced the opening on Facebook, expressing their excitement and gratitude for the support that inspired the expansion [1].

A Historic Manor with a Modern Ethos

The Ffarm Hall building dates back to the early 1700s, originally constructed by the Oldfield family [1]. Over the years, it transitioned from a private residence to a hotel and restaurant in 1964, changing ownership several times before becoming a boutique bed and breakfast in 2006 [1]. Louise and Andy Macbeth have been undertaking renovations, including adding new ensuites and fireplaces [1].

Compassionate Hospitality and Plant-Based Dining

Ffarm Hall promises a sustainable and luxurious countryside escape centered around plant-based cuisine. The hotel’s sample menu features seasonal small plates like Coronation Tempeh Boats and Chard, Date, & Almond Pastille, alongside sandwiches, soups, burgers, lasagna, and dal [1]. Dessert options include Lemon Chia Cheesecake, Chocolate Orange Pot, and Sticky Toffee Pumpkin Pudding [1]. Afternoon tea will also be available.

The Macbeths’ commitment to a plant-based lifestyle extends beyond the menu. Like Beck Hall, Ffarm Hall utilizes cruelty-free detergents, toiletries, duvets, and pillows, and is gradually replacing items like leather sofas and wool carpets with vegan alternatives [2]. This dedication to compassionate hospitality has earned Beck Hall accolades, including a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice 2023 award and an impressive 98% occupancy rate [2].
