Exploring the Realities of Exile

“Welcome to Europe” follows Cyril Montana, grandson of a Spanish political refugee, as he embarks on a journey from Paris to Europe’s borders. He seeks to understand the experiences of those who have been forced to leave their homes and lives behind. During his travels, Montana befriends Yadullah, a young Afghan who arrived in Paris in 2022.

Combating Preconceived Notions

The documentary intertwines the personal stories of exiles with political and scientific analysis. Its goal is to dismantle common misconceptions and expose the underlying issues driving narratives around immigration. The film seeks to address the increasing levels of hate and what it describes as “barbarism.”

Cyril Montana: A Multifaceted Storyteller

Cyril Montana brings a diverse background to the project, with over 20 years of experience in communication, journalism, and literature. He is the author of several novels, some of which have been nominated for prestigious literary awards, including the Renaudot, Flore, and Marcel Pagnol prizes. Montana has too produced programs for France Culture and contributed to innovative publications like Repérages, Musica Falsa, and Blast magazine.
