Triple Murder in Milnerton, South Africa – Investigation Underway
Milnerton, South Africa – February 22, 2026 – A triple murder investigation has been launched following a shooting in the Joe Slovo informal settlement in Milnerton, Western Cape, on Saturday night. Police are currently searching for the gunmen responsible for the deaths of two women and one man.
Details of the Incident
According to a statement from the Western Cape South African Police Service (SAPS), officers responded to reports of gunfire on Freedom Way shortly after 10:30 PM on February 21st. Upon arrival, they discovered a silver Toyota Avanza riddled with bullet holes. Inside the vehicle, the bodies of two adult females were found deceased. A 36-year-old male was discovered a few meters away from the vehicle, also fatally wounded.
Investigation and Potential Motives
Colonel Andrè Traut, a provincial police spokesperson, stated that investigators are working to determine the motive behind the shooting. Initial reports suggest the deceased male was previously involved in the taxi industry, and one of the women killed was reportedly his girlfriend. However, at this stage, the motive remains unknown, and no arrests have been made.
The case has been assigned to the province’s serious and violent crime detectives for further investigation. Police are appealing to the public for any information that could assist in their probe.

Residents of Joe Slovo are reeling from the incident. One resident, speaking to Scrolla.Africa, described hearing gunshots and fleeing the area for fear of being caught in the crossfire. The community is reportedly shocked and fearful following the attack.
