Westfield Owner Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield Hit by Cyberattack, Customer Data Exposed

Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield, the owner of 93 shopping centers globally, including Westfield La Part-Dieu and Westfield Confluence in Lyon, France, has been the target of a significant cyberattack resulting in a data breach. The incident, disclosed on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, affects individuals registered for loyalty programs or newsletters.
What Data Was Compromised?
The leaked data includes identity information such as surnames and first names, email addresses, telephone numbers, postal codes, dates of birth and registration details. Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield has confirmed that no financial information was compromised in the breach.
“We immediately took the necessary measures to contain this attack and are working in close collaboration with the competent authorities to protect your interests,” stated Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield in a communication to affected customers.
No Financial Data Affected
The company assures customers that sensitive financial data, such as bank account or credit card numbers, and passwords were not affected by the data leak. But, customers are advised to exercise caution regarding potential phishing attempts or unauthorized use of their personal information.
“Although we have no evidence to date of fraudulent use of your data, phishing attempts or unauthorized use of your data may still occur. As a precaution, we therefore recommend that you treat all unsolicited calls, emails and text messages with caution, particularly if you are asked to provide payment information or passwords. We will never ask you for your credit card number or password by email, telephone or SMS,” the company warned.
Westfield La Part-Dieu: A Major Shopping Destination
Westfield La Part-Dieu in Lyon, one of Europe’s largest shopping centers, underwent a major renovation and extension from 2016-2020. Artelia Group served as the project manager for Unibail Rodamco-Westfield during this transformation, which included adding 32,000 square meters of new retail space and renovating 60,000 square meters of existing areas. The center now offers over 160,000 square meters of retail space and anticipates 40 million visitors annually. MVRDV contributed to the redesign, focusing on sustainability and integrating the center with the city.
