Will.i.am’s Trinity Vehicle: AI-Powered Micromobility for the Urban Commute
Black Eyed Peas star will.i.am is integrating artificial intelligence into a three-wheeled electric vehicle designed for modern urban transportation. The vehicle, named Trinity, aims to transform commutes into collaborative experiences with the assist of an onboard AI agent.
Trinity: Brains on Wheels
will.i.am demonstrated the Trinity autocycle at Nvidia’s annual developers conference in Silicon Valley . The vehicle is a single-passenger electric vehicle with a three-wheeled, self-balancing design intended to combine the agility of a motorbike with the stability of a car . Trinity is not self-driving; instead, its AI focuses on assisting the driver with tasks beyond vehicle operation.
Agentic AI for Enhanced Productivity
The core innovation of Trinity lies in its “agentic AI.” This means the AI isn’t just responding to commands but can proactively make decisions and execute multi-step tasks. Will.i.am envisions the AI handling tasks such as finding parking, sending ETAs and logging mileage for expense reports, all through conversational commands . “Trinity is for people who still love driving but want software and AI to handle the mental load around the drive – planning, coordinating, remembering and connecting,” said William Adams, better known as will.i.am .
A New Approach to Vehicle Design
will.i.am’s company, Trinity, took a unique approach to vehicle development. Rather than starting with the mechanical components, they began with the AI agent and built the vehicle’s hardware and user interface around it . This “agent-centric” design prioritizes the AI’s ability to understand the driver’s goals and provide assistance.
Production and Availability
An initial production run of 500 Trinity vehicles is planned, with deliveries expected to begin in August of next year. The company aims to retain the vehicle’s price under $30,000 . The vehicles will be manufactured in a Los Angeles facility that will also serve as a training center for robotics and agentic AI systems .
The Future of Micromobility
will.i.am believes that AI-powered vehicles like Trinity represent the future of urban transportation, offering a blend of driving enjoyment and intelligent assistance. He describes the vehicle as a “super employee” for commuters, capable of handling tasks and collaborating on the go . His vision is to create a seamless integration of technology and mobility, enhancing productivity and simplifying the urban commute.
