Will White Gains Second Chance with Western Bulldogs After Carlton Departure
Former Carlton forward Will White is vying for a list spot with the Western Bulldogs following the recent retirement of James Harmes. The Bulldogs have invited White to train with the club this week, alongside Footscray VFL product Will Lewis, as they seek to fill the vacancy before the pre-season supplementary selection period (SSP) deadline on March 2nd.
White, who initially joined Carlton as a supplementary selection player in 2025, played 14 senior games for the Blues before being delisted at the end of the season. AFL.com.au reports that he was previously invited back to train with Carlton alongside Elijah Hollands, but the club ultimately opted to offer a training spot to Wade Derkson.
White’s Journey to the Bulldogs
After going undrafted, White signed with Carlton’s VFL team in 2023. He showcased impressive form in the 2024 VFL season, scoring 21 goals from 18 games. He debuted for Carlton in round 4 of the 2025 season against Collingwood, recording 10 disposals and 3 behinds. According to his Wikipedia profile, White’s best AFL performance came in his third match, where he kicked three goals against North Melbourne.
Competition for the Spot
White will compete with Will Lewis for the vacant list position. Lewis, a 194cm utility, was a key player in Footscray’s VFL premiership-winning team last season, playing 19 games and kicking 40 goals, including two in the Grand Final.
Bulldogs’ Pre-Season Schedule
The Western Bulldogs will hold a match simulation against Sydney on Thursday and will then face Hawthorn in the AAMI Community Series on February 27th.
